Trauma/Childhood
Trauma/Childhood

Traumatic experiences can leave you feeling "stuck," frustrated, or hopeless. Trauma can affect every part of your life including work and relationships. Effective recovery from trauma is possible. Whether your pain comes from childhood, adolescence, or adulthood, we can work together to improve your quality of life. I have an interest in first responder mental health/occupational stress and have completed training through First Responder Health.

Self-Esteem
Self-Esteem

We live in a culture that promotes individual achievement and productivity. We are taught to "push through" difficult emotions and are not rewarded for vulnerability. There can be immense pressure to look, feel, and be perfect. If you are struggling with feelings of inadequacy or low self-esteem, I would love to help you explore those issues and feel more confident.

Anger
Anger and Other Strong Emotions

Daily life can be frustrating, and there will always be ups and downs. We usually get our cues for how to deal with strong negative emotion from our caregivers in childhood. But what if you were not lucky enough to have good emotional role models? You might find yourself on a roller coaster of emotions and have a hard time expressing yourself in healthy ways that don't require apologies later. I can help you learn to handle intense negative emotions like anger, sadness, and rejection, to feel more in control.

Addictions
Harm Reduction

Abstinence is an effective approach for some people. However, relapse is often part of recovery. Harm reduction can be an effective and life-saving approach. Whether you are seeking outside help to supplement your 12-step work or prefer a harm-reduction perspective, I am happy to support you on your recovery journey.

Inclusivity
LGBTQIA2S+/Weight Neutrality/Sex Positivity

My treatment is provided in a sex-positive, body-positive, gender-affirming environment. I am passionate about providing nonjudgmental services. No matter what you bring to a session, rest assured that sex work will be respected as work, preferred pronouns will be used, and alternate relationship structures will be understood and valued. It can be scary to bring your authentic self to therapy. I welcome the opportunity to support you and acknowledge your identity.

Cultural Sensitivity
Cultural Sensitivity & Awareness

As a white person, I acknowledge the unearned privilege that I bring to all my interactions. I endeavour to continue learning about the ways in which marginalization is perpetuated through structures of power in our society. My approach to cultural sensitivity centres around an openness to learning - in simple terms, I know what I don't know, and am willing to put in the work to understand your cultural identity. I pledge to be aware of and challenge my assumptions and personal biases.

I'd Love to Hear from You!
